South Central Committee on Family Violence Inc. is a transitional housing project designed to support women and children seeking stability after leaving emergency shelter environments. Developed through a collaboration between Sputnik Architecture and XOYO Architecture Office, the project focuses on creating a safe, supportive residential setting that balances independence, privacy, and community.
The building is organized around 25 residential suites, including studio, one, two, and three bedroom units, allowing families of varying sizes to be accommodated comfortably. A range of shared amenity spaces support the daily needs of residents and encourage positive interaction among families. Program areas include a life skills kitchen and multipurpose space for educational programming, counselling rooms for private support services, and a dedicated child minding room. Family oriented lounges and conveniently located laundry facilities are integrated on residential levels to enhance everyday living. Outdoor play space and carefully planned communal areas further support wellbeing, connection, and the creation of a safe and welcoming residential environment.
